For nearly two centuries, the poor and needy of the world have found a friend in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. The purpose of the Society is to help its members grow in the love of God and neighbor and to express this spirit of love by serving those in need. They are living out the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. Volunteer opportunities at St. Peter’s include: retreiving telephone calls from the main SVdP phone line for monetary assistance, helping at the food pantry, delivering food to shut-ins, and picking up donated food from government food programs and the Southern Maryland Food Bank. The St. Peter's Food Pantry is held on the third Saturday of each month. Visit our Food Pantry Needs & Notes for more information.
Meetings are held monthly at 6:00 p.m. on the Tuesday preceding the food pantry (the 3rd Saturday of the month). If you have questions or are interested in joining, contact Linda Heimpel, President, on (301) 932-7713. Leave a message and your call will be returned. Or, join us at the next scheduled meeting in the St. Peter's School building.
Do you have a used car, boat, or jet ski that you would like to donate to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul so that proceeds can be used for the poor? If so, click on SVdP Vehicle Donation Program.
