Church Charities

Volunteer and live out the corporal and spiritual works of mercy through our Charitable Outreach and Food Pantry programs!  Both financial and food donations are gratefully accepted.  Please contact the Parish Office for information or to volunteer.

CHARITABLE OUTREACH - provides direct financial assistance to the needy.  In a nutshell, it involves fielding calls (usually from the Parish Office) from those requesting financial assistance, vetting applicants, working with other members to determine appropriate amounts (if eligible), and sending the assistance to the individual or family. 

FOOD PANTRY - provides supplemental groceries to the needy.  St. Peter's Food Pantry is held on the third Saturday of each month in the school parking lot. The food pantry is open from 9 - 11 a.m., with set-up starting around 7:30 a.m.  You can assist those less fortunate by:  helping to sort, bag and dispense grocery items, delivering food to shut-ins, and picking up donated food from government food programs and the Southern Maryland Food Bank.  

Donations of food may be left in one of the baskets near the gift table at the back of St. Peter’s sanc­tu­ary or in the vestibule of the Parish Office. Top needs are spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, macaroni & cheese, peanut butter, cereal, jelly, canned meat and canned vegetables.  Please do not donate per­ish­able food or items packed in plas­tic bags.  Please also avoid glass if pos­si­ble.
